Tracing Your North American Ancestors, 1783–1960 explores the journeys of the many thousands of people who left Britain to build new lives across North America during the 19th and 20th centuries.
James Cronan, collections specialist at The National Archives , will introduce rich and varied historical sources including births and deaths recorded at sea, passport registers, and Loyalist claims. The presentation will explain how these records can reveal migration stories, family connections, and important details about an ancestor’s journey.
The online program combines a pre-recorded presentation with a live question-and-answer session, giving family-history researchers an opportunity to learn from a National Archives specialist and bring questions about their own research.
