🪱 Earth, Worm, and Fire • The Art of Worm Castings
Dig into the world beneath the garden in this WaterSmart workshop presented by Citrus Heights Water District at Sylvan Oaks Library.
The Citrus Heights Water District brings another of its WaterSmart workshops to Sylvan Oaks Library with Earth, Worm, and Fire: The Art of Worm Castings, an adult class centered on one of gardening’s smallest — and hardest-working — helpers.
Worm castings are the rich, soil-like material produced through vermicomposting, where composting worms help break down organic material. Castings can be incorporated into garden soil and containers as a natural soil amendment, helping gardeners build healthier soil while putting organic material back to work.
Participants will explore worm composting and practical uses for worm castings in home gardening. Topics may include how castings are produced, how they can be used around plants, and the role healthy soil can play in creating a more resilient and water-wise garden.
