Single Mom Strong
Single Mom Strong is a Sacramento-based nonprofit that stands beside single mothers and their children with practical support and a welcoming community. Their belief is simple and powerful: with the right tools and encouragement, families can thrive.
What started as a local effort has grown into a village—one that offers care for children, confidence for moms, and connection for both. Programs are designed to be accessible, respectful, and results-oriented, meeting families where they are and helping them take the next step forward.

- Quality early learning and childcare with the EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare, making dependable care attainable for single-income households.
- Career advancement support—from resume coaching and mock interviews to a free Career Clothing Closet—so moms can pursue opportunity with confidence.
- Community and belonging through empowerment workshops, “Mom & Me” outings, and supportive gatherings that reduce isolation and build durable networks.
- Enrichment for kids—tutoring, camps, and hands-on learning partnerships—because a child’s growth is central to a family’s future.

At Single Mom Strong, we build practical systems that improve outcomes for single mothers and their children. In 2025, program expansion continued, creating more access to childcare, strengthening economic mobility, and deepening family connection. These numbers represent more than services delivered. They reflect quality time created, opportunities gained, and families moving forward with momentum.

-18,400 hours of school-age childcare provided

Introducing EmpowerME South Sac!
We’re excited to welcome families to our new EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare South Sac location at 7650 Amherst St, Sacramento, conveniently located just off I-5 at Pocket/Meadowview.
Our award-winning programs serve children ages 3 months to 13 years with:
- Trauma-informed teachers
- Low student-to-teacher ratios

SMS Teen!
The kids we’ve grown with over the past 8 years are becoming teens. Continuing to nurture our community is important to us, and we also recognize that there aren’t enough safe, structured spaces for teens to connect and just be: so we’re building one.
SMS Teen, in partnership with the City of Sacramento's SacTown Youth Nights, is coming soon.
This is a natural next step in our work. We’re creating consistent, welcoming spaces for ages 12–18 with fun, learning, movement, creativity, and leadership built in, all grounded in safety and belonging.
We’ve seen what’s possible when young people have structure and trusted relationships through programs like EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare and our Men's Mentoring Team. Now we’re extending that foundation into the teen years. STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS!

Program Spotlight:
Men's Mentoring Team
Single Mom Strong’s Men’s Mentoring Program creates sustained, healthy relationships between caring, positive male role models and school-aged children of single moms. Mentors are screened, trained and supported to meet regularly and consistently with mentees, for about 2.5 hours each month, throughout the school year. At these events, the children are exposed to new ideas and activities, but, most importantly, they are given an example of a man who will consistently show up for them.
