I have owned my unit in Edgewood for the last 20 years or so. I also have two other homes I spend time at so I am not here all that often. I have run for the board twice, one time my paperwork mysteriously disappeared.
I have witnessed crazy things going on here where funds have been wasted but complaints fall on deaf ears. The board has had a special assessment for shrubs and flowers while roofs had been leaking. There are about fifteen similar items where waste exceeded $25,000 each time. But I digress.
I do think the board has best intentions but lack the insight or education to manage our funds effectively. The emphasis is on making things look pretty rather than preplanning to be cost effective in repairs. Never is a construction inspector hired to oversee roof repairs, painting, or asphalt repairs. Contractors continue to cheat the homeowners.
So I have a bit of experience handling large contracts and overseeing accounting and bookkeeping on government construction contracts. The numbers the board feeds us regarding funds on hand and in reserve are not accurate. Information given to the accounting groups have been based on projected amounts rather than actual funds on hand.
Call me a rebel but if the guy that runs this website wants to legally challenge the board, I will help foot the bill. You should too.
