LEGO Robotics Workshop for Kids at Orangevale Library

Free monthly STEM program where kids learn robotics, coding, and teamwork through hands-on LEGO building projects in Orangevale.

Led by a team of student instructors, kids ages 9 to 14 will work in groups to design, build, and program a robot while developing core STEM skills. This fun, hands-on workshop encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in an engaging learning environment.

The Orangevale Library, part of the Sacramento Public Library system, is located at 8820 Greenback Lane, Suite L, Orangevale, CA 95662. Serving as a true community hub, it offers a wide range of resources, technology, and programs for residents of all ages.

Key Features & History

  • First established in 1912; at the current Greenback Lane location since 2001.
  • Underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2021, nearly doubling in size from 4,320 to 7,910 square feet.
  • Added spaces include:
    • Dedicated rooms for children and teens
    • Two new study rooms
    • A flexible community room
  • Features an in-house Seed Library offering free vegetable and flower seeds to the public.

Resources & Services

  • Collections: Books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, and magazines.
  • Technology: Public computers, word processors, and free high-speed gigabit internet.
  • Programs & Events: Family Storytime, “Explore and Learn” sessions, and seasonal programs.
  • Friends of the Orangevale Library: A volunteer support group that funds programs and materials through book sales and events.
