Intermediate / Advanced
Practice speaking English in a friendly and informal online group using Zoom. We’ll discuss different topics, from everyday life, culture, and more. Email @saclibrary.org for the Zoom link.

Practice English with native speakers and fellow learners, guided by a trained professional.

We’ll explore a variety of topics such as everyday life, local activities, and more.

  • 1:00 PM Group: Designed for beginner/intermediate learners (all levels welcome)
  • 5:00 PM Group (Thursdays): For intermediate/advanced learners (different Zoom link)
  • 1:00 PM Group (Fridays): For All level learners, including beginners. (different Zoom link)
  • English Conversation Group is for anyone from any language or cultural background who wants to practice speaking (and listening) to English in a welcoming, social space.
  • Being comfortable and confident with informal conversation is important even in more formal environments, such as at work or college.
  • Improve your confidence and fluency in English, while learning about American life and other cultures, and make community connections.
  • Different topics and activities, often using pictures, will be used each time to keep the group interesting and interactive, for any level.
  • Note: This is not a “class” in the traditional sense. The facilitator is not a teacher, and there is limited direct grammar instruction—if any—focusing more on vocabulary and actual speaking.
  • Other resources or referrals may be provided as needed or requested.
  • This is a space for participants to learn by doing—by spending their time talking!
  • The facilitator may or may not be bilingual.

English learners are welcome to join all groups.

Sacramento Public Library developed this event to support its English language learning priority.
